MultiBin has improved accuracy for Normans Musical Instruments

The Company:

Established in 1959, Normans has grown to become the UK’s pre-eminent specialist supplier of musical instruments.

The Need:

An increase in the volume of goods passing through the warehouse meant there was a requirement for greater control of stock.

  • A system was required to run alongside Opera in order to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • A stricter procedure was needed to allow the option for temporary staff to be brought in during peak sales periods.

The Solution:

  • The Bridge plus MultiBin was installed, allowing a greater level of transparency and monitoring of warehouse duties.
  • MultiBin allows warehouse staff to properly manage the location of stock across multiple bin locations.
  • MultiBin also allows multiple quarantine (holding area) locations per warehouse.
  • The use of bar-coding created a dramatic reduction in picking errors.
  • Integration with the DPD IT system also improved speed and accuracy of label production.
  • The Bridge Bins were designed at the same time as the upgrading of the warehouse racking, which allowed the physical and Bridge Bins to be designed in tandem.
“Investment in the Bridge bar-coding technology has taken our warehouse operation to the next level, allowing us to handle a much greater volume with improved accuracy. MJM gave excellent advice throughout the implementation period and their on-going support has been excellent.”
